Monday, February 4, 2008 by admin.
In this business the most common scenario is a client trying to stretch their advertising budget.
I hear statements similar to this one below:
“We’re a small business with a limited budget, we need to make the most of our advertising dollars.”
This is a terrific goal and is prudent sentiment for anyone to have when running a successful business.
Advertising is a large expense in any business. Sadly, many business make expensive mistakes in trying to work within their small budgets. It isn’t uncommon that a business unintentionally wastes their advertising budget in an attempt to be frugal.

Some examples of common advertising mistakes:
- No clear message in the advertising copy; oftentimes, saying too much in one message.
- Not enough advertising scheduled for the message to make an impression.
- Media vehicle not targeted demographically to a client’s prospective buyers.
- Not utilizing all media available for a well rounded campaign.
- No branding or imaging.
- Utilizing amateur talent to do a professional job (Logo Art, Ad Copy, Voice-Over)
- No “Call To Action”.
- No ability to track results.
- No cohesive ongoing marketing strategy.
Over the next couple of weeks I will be posting some examples of these mistakes and some strategies to help avoid them in your marketing efforts.
