There is no American King!
Monday, February 11, 2008 by admin.
Americans have become “headline readers” and often forget to pay attention to the fact that what appears in the news has a deeper story.
The problem with reading just the “hype” and only focusing on “presidential” politics, is that the general public is not paying attention to politics at the local and state levels. The President has very little autonomy. The US Government is supposed to work from the bottom up, not the other way around.
We are now in a heavy political season and really hope and urge all US citizens to pay attention to the “day to day” small changes that occur and to get involved on a local level with issues that are important to you. Don’t lose the power of your voice by fighting a battle on the wrong field.
Many people are either not educated in or are too lethargic to even remember HOW our government operates. Here is a site that starts with the basics of How Government Works in the US. I also wanted to add some fun learning from Schoolhouse Rock.
Without and direction from the people, the US government will travel the path of least resistance. The congress currently is an example of an unchecked “freight train” and the public is spending its time complaining about the President.
Do yourself a favor, check and see what your Congress votes on….you’ll be shocked at how many of them don’t show up on a regular basis to speak for their own constituency - to speak on your behalf.
